So, as most of you know, I spent the first two weeks of May touring Greece and Italy in a large bus with approximately.... 41 other students, three Rotex, three Rotarians, and one fairly useless tour guide. (Coincidentally, I'm quite sure on the number of students. They assigned us all numbers and had us count off to make sure we were all there. I was number 27.)
How to describe Greece and Italy.... you can't really. They were both incredibly beautiful places, even Thessalonike, if only because we got to get out of the bus for the first time in something like thirty hours for longer than a few minutes. Over the course of our stay, we saw Thessalonike, Meteora, the Corinth Canal, a Mycenae, Delphi, Naples, Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Rome, Siena, and Venice. We were scheduled to go to Athens the third day in Greece, but that got scrapped gratis strikes that converted into riots. So I didn't get to see the Parthenon, which I was really looking forward to seeing. Bugger. At least I got to see Delphi, which for the Greek mythology nut was rather awe-inspiring. I took entirely too many pictures, which I can't post at the moment, as I have issues getting my host parents' computer to let me load my SD card. Oh well. I'll live. When I can, I'll upload photos.
Unfortunately, I'm going to need to rely on my pictures a lot to explain how things were, so I'm going to have to put off this post even further. Sorry..... Know that my favorite place was probably Siena, and that riots are really very irksome.
I'll post when I can. Hopefully the next host parents' (to whom I'll be moving sometime this weekend) will have a connection that'll work better....
And that's all there is. There isn't anymore.
