At this point, I don't really have anything to report. Life in Slovakia moves on as usual. The most notable thing in my life is a sudden need to pack my suitcases, yet again. On Saturday, I'll be changing host families. Again. At least this time, I know my host parents, and what to expect, as they're the first host family that Carlos had, and Beth's current family. I've met them a few times, and they're pretty nice. The only thing that really worries me about living in their home is that they don't speak very much English. As in Majka speaks none, and Josko speaks minimal English. My Slovak is terrible. Somehow, this doesn't reassure me...
I suppose this wouldn't be as bad if I actually saw the point to me changing house. The thing is, I'm only in Slovakia for a month and eleven days once I change families. Eleven of those days will be spent going on a lovely Rotary sponsored tour of Greece and Italy. Added to that, at the very end of my stay, my host parents will be heading off to Tulsa to go visit their son, Jakob. The current plan (according to Beth) is for the family of their eldest son to stay with me during those three days, although I might end up living with a Rotarian. It's all very complicated. Not the point. At any rate, I'm going to be spending less than a month with my new family, and in all honesty, I'm not sure that I see the point. Any ideas, anyone?
In other news, I'm attempting to organize housing, and am being severely tempted to gut the new system Ole Miss has set up for housing. I'm trying to get a dorm on one of the Honors Floors, and it won't let me! Supposedly, there's only one floor open in the entire dorm, and it's not one of the Honors floors. Somehow, I doubt that's actuallly the case. I checked one or two of the other dorms, just to see if it was a fluke, and guess what? Turns out, the dorm where the Honors floors are housed is actually the fluke- they have space! Several of the other halls don't have any floors registered. What the heck is going on!?!?! I don't need these kind of problems when I'm dealing with things from across the Atlantic. I really don't. I'm also helping my friend Majeka work out how to handle an international admissions website. She wants to go to a college in Virginia to play tennis. I think she stands a good chance of getting in, personally. She's really good, and smart, even though she actually likes Math and Physics, which, frankly, I don't understand. If she does get to college in the US, I'm definitely going to have to find a way to introduce her to my mother. Something tells me they'd get along quite well....
And that's all there is. There isn't anymore.
