I have a cold. Again.
I'm getting really sick of having colds. They're quite annoying, and bring up the point that I really don't know the protocal for school and having things like colds. In America, I would tell my mother that I have a cold, and she'd take a good look at me, then say
"Virginia, do you have a fever?"
"No..."
"Are you throwing up?"
"...No."
"Then you're going to school."
That is not how things work here in Slovakia. Coughs and colds are things you stay home for, apparently. I'm the only one in my class with a cough. Or, at least, I'm the only one who's here who has a cough. In America, I could count on at least one or two other people to be hacking along with me at this time of year. I don't understand this. Why are people not showing up, just because they have a cough? What constitutes a fever here, because they use the Celsius scale? Should I really just stay home one day, as my English teacher suggested? Are people that concerned about the spread of germs?
These are questions that have me baffled. I don't like being baffled. Being baffled is confusing.
Besides, what would I do if I just stayed home?! I suppose I could watch all the video clips I have on my computer, and read, but... sheesh, that would get really old, really fast.
However, if I don't stop coughing soon, and by soon I mean really soon, I might just get to do that.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go to a Lekareň and get a new box of Coldrex.
And that's all there is. There isn't anymore.
