For those of you who think that over the counter medication is universal, let it be known that you are fools. Over the counter medication is volatile, and each country has its own varieties, or lack there of. Further, let it be known that Slovakia is fairly obsessive about, well, not herbal remedies, exactly, but something like that.
The short of it is: Don't get a cough in a foreign country. Or rather, feel free to get the cough, but make sure that you're over said cough by the time your stash of American cough drops runs out.
I got a cough in a foreign country. I didn't get over said cough by the time my cough drop stash ran out.
Welcome to the world of Slovak over the counter medication. I'm now on two varieties of cough medication. One is this really foul tasting tea thing that seems to be working. It was recommended by my friend Noemi, and I must take it three times a day. And believe me, it tastes terrible. The second is what I consider the Slovak version of cough drops that my host father gave me last night. These also taste foul. I think it's a rule that Slovak over the counter medication can't taste good.
So, in other words, I'm hacking my lungs up, and I'm getting treated for it. Slovak Lekareň really don't believe in providing good tasting medication, and I've had to do some wandering about in them. This last bit is really to one specific person, and I'm pretty sure she'll understand what I'm saying: I found the Slovak variety of the Russian cold medicine!
And that's all there is. There isn't anymore.

It's been a while since you posted. . . you didn't take too much of the slovak medicine? I slept for 16 hours straight when I took the Romanian medicine.
